Hawaiian Airlines

Green Welling LLP is investigating complaints concerning the imposition of allegedly improper extra-bag fees on passengers flying Hawaiian Airlines. More specifically, the firm's investigation concerns extra-bag fees imposed on ticketed passengers who purchased their tickets before Hawaiian Airlines' new checked baggage policy went into effect and who used the airline's web check-in service prior to departure.

Regarding a second checked bag, Hawaiian Airlines' baggage policy states that, "depending on when you purchase your ticket, a $25 fee will apply for a second checked bag for flights between the continental U.S. and Hawaii and $17 for interisland flights." The airline's website states that the "$25 fee to check your second bag applies to tickets purchased on or after May 10, 2008, for travel on or after June 10, 2008." With regard to interisland flights, the "$17 fee to check [a] second bag applies to tickets purchased on or after July 8, 2008 for travel on or after July 15, 2008."

Some Hawaiian Airlines passengers complain that, although they purchased their tickets prior to May 10, 2008 (for flights between the continental U.S. and Hawaii) or July 8, 2008 (for interisland flights) for travel after the specified dates, they were automatically assessed a second checked bag fee when using the airline's web check-in service, contrary to Hawaiian Airlines' stated policy. If you feel that you may have been improperly assessed a second checked bag fee by Hawaiian Airlines because you purchased your ticket before the new checked baggage policy went into effect and would like to share your experience or discuss your legal rights, please contact us by clicking here or by calling (415) 477-6700.
